Black Widow (2021) Review
Marvel Studios' Black Widow finally gives Natasha Romanoff her own standalone adventure. Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War, the film dives into Natasha's hidden past while introducing audiences to her former family and the dangerous Red Room organization.
Scarlett Johansson delivers another strong performance as Natasha Romanoff, while Florence Pugh shines as Yelena Belova with a perfect blend of humor and emotion. David Harbour provides comic relief as the Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz plays Melina Vostokoff, a scientist connected to Natasha's past.
The movie features spectacular action sequences including car chases, helicopter battles, rooftop fights, and the destruction of the Red Room. Director Cate Shortland balances emotional family moments with Marvel's signature action and visual effects.
Although released after Natasha's death in Avengers: Endgame, the film serves as an important chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by expanding her backstory and introducing Yelena Belova, who later becomes an important MCU character.
